Funding the future: Why we need to start investing in more female founders now.

In 2020 only 2.3% of the available capital worldwide was invested in female-led startups. According to current forecasts, we might get close to 10% of the available capital in Europe in 2021. Yet, we’re still far away from having a diverse venture capital and startup ecosystem. In her keynote, Gesa Miczaika, managing partner at Auxxo and member of the board of the German Startup Association, will elaborate on why this leads to missed opportunities. Studies show that women-led startups are more successful and usually faster at exiting.

Why a sustainable impact investment strategy does not mean only investing in sustainability

So far in 2021, global investors have already closed as many climate-focused funds as were raised during the previous five years combined, according to PitchBook data. VC-backed climate tech companies have raised more than $14.2 billion worldwide — 88% of the total for all of 2020. So how can we explain that awakening? Has the definition of impact investing widened, or are more funds realizing that only companies with solutions aiming to decarbonize the planet have a long-lasting future? In this panel, we will explore all facets of impact and climate tech investing and hear why it should or should not become central to all investment processes. Let's discuss!

Why we can only benefit from more female investors

It is still predominantly men who decide whether and which innovations and start-ups deserve financial support - both from VC funds and business angels. But diversity is crucial for success - not only in teams but also at the Cap Table. Especially when it comes to shaping our economy and future sustainably, we must all strive to shed light on more perspectives - including female ones! In her Deep Dive, Svenja Lassen, initiator of the Female Investors Network at primeCROWD, presents study results and action measures for more equal participation and achieving the mission #25to25."
